I see art as a public resource for societal reflection and change. My practice investigates underexposed subjects and presents them in unexpected ways, driven by a belief that creative work is a form of civic participation.
In my artistic practice, I explore a range of subjects, including media-driven desensitisation to violence, the digital construction of identity, data ethics, digital accessibility, and sensory deprivation.
I approach the subjects I explore with an awareness of my own implication in them. For me, artistic practice begins with self-reflection and accountability, with the hope of encouraging broader societal self-examination.
Irony plays an important role in this approach. Rather than using it to mock or distance myself, I use it to expose the gap between our pretensions and aspirations, and between our socially conditioned behaviours and the actions that might bring meaningful change.
