A shortsighted visionary that delves into complex, often political subjects, translating them into experiences and objects that are as amusing as they are thought-provoking.
My desire is to make art a public resource for societal reflection and change, investigating underexposed subjects and presenting them in novel ways.
I see it as my civic duty to participate in the democratic process in the best way I know, creatively. And when I do propose solutions, with a keen understanding of my limited individual role in that process.
Nearly always finding myself implicated in the subjects I highlight, my practice is self-reflection and accountability first, hoping to encourage societal self-examination later.
This is the reason I allow myself irony in my work too. Not the detached, mocking kind, but the one that pokes at the gap between pretence and aspiration to evoke an experience of irony in myself first, and later others.
Where we notice a gap between our socially conditioned movements and what it would mean to do something meaningfully, we experience irony in a powerful way.
