Plain Packaging
Plain unattractive packaging for cigarettes has become the standard nearly all around the globe. However, the consumption of products containing substances like palm-oil, micro-plastics or high traces of antibiotics (such as industrially produced meat) can easily be argued to pose the same threat to public, planetary and personal health. Therefore the question arises: Why are these products not presented to the consumer in a way that reflects this? Also, should the concern we show for humans health not be extended towards the animals we consume or the environments that shoulder the costs of our food production? This work displays a number of questionable products in the same style to modern cigarette packages, graphic images and in the worlds least attractive colour: Pantone 448C. Rather than designing a new one, adopting this style presents the audience with something familiar and eerily realistic. The products feel real, therefore begging the question why these packages are not a reality.
