Code is Law
Modifications to the German constitution inspired by the book Weapons of Math Destruction by Cathy O'Neill. The piece intends to sensitise citizens to the modern reality of opaque, unaccountable governance algorithms encroaching on their rights and reinforcing malignant social orders and injustices. In this work, code pertaining to practices such as predictive policing, algorithmic hiring, and always-on home assistants physically obscures German citizens' access to their constitutional rights of privacy, legal certainty, equality, employment and the inviolability of their homes.
